What I have found as an overall result are a number of websites that provide information on specific aspects of the topic and then provide links to other resources that cover the many different aspects of this topic. This resource that I would like to share this time is titled IPPSO – Independent Power Producer’s Society of Ontario. This site covers a number of topics that relate to power in Ontario and expands out towards Canada as a global issue. This site covers the main types of renewable energy sources and provides links and other resources that pertain to each of these categories in specific detail. In another section of this website names and contact information are given in regards to Renewable Energy and Sustainable Energy Organizations. This information is given so that a person can look more in depth to a certain aspect of this topic and provides contacts with the experts in each individual aspect of this topic. Educational Materials and Training Programs is also another section of this website which provides a useful tool to anyone interested in this topic and allows them to get involved and participate in a number of different ways. There is a simple section that provides a number of definitions that pertain to this topic. This section I would consider to be a condensed web version of a dictionary for this topic. It provides much background information in relation to all aspects of this topic. Last of all this site has an extensive section that provides links to other sites, organizations, persons, and resources that have some connection to the topic at hand. Overall this website provides a number of different uses to the user and is am all around good resource for research in this topic field.

The website resource that I have found for this Blog entry is a different type of source, It is titled
Renewable Energy On-line Database from James & James. This website is different as I would consider it an online directory of different people and corporations that have some type of knowledge or involvement with renewable energy from across the globe. This database allows the user to search by region, country, type of renewable energy, sub categories, and company names, in any order they choose to. I thought that this would be a very useful resource as it allows myself or any other person to look into specific developments in renewable energy and how different companies approach this issue. This database provides the user with the name, contact name, email address and other useful information regarding the companies that are listed on the site. Allowing one to access companies in Canada as well as the rest of the world is a great advantage as it provides a person with a way to get in contact with many different companies and see what they have in common in their approach to the issue of renewable energy. This database hold the details of 12, 000 companies and organizations from around the world, each of them in their own right a renewable energy specialist and with being kept up to date I believe that it provides a useful tool into finding out critical information regarding this topic. There is not much more that I believe I need to say about this website as a resource. It provides a useful tool to find out specific details about many different projects of different sizes around the world and how they compare to those projects closer to home.

I have to say that the websites that I have been finding most useful are those, which are produced by government, or government owned organizations. I feel that this is because governments realize that renewable energy is the way of the future and they feel that it is their responsibility to inform the public and give then the basic for any further initiatives they (the public) may have. This entry is to discuss the website entitled Energy Sector - Natural Resources Canada - Governement of Canada. This website is focused around the Energy sector as a whole in Canada, and is provides a comprehensive look in to many different aspects of Canadian energy. The different aspects of the Energy Sector that it explores includes: Energy Policy, Efficiency, Resources as well as Renewable Energy, International Policies, and how the Climate Change Effects energy in Canada. This site allows the user to find the critical information that is required when doing research about the Energy sector and the background information regarding Renewable Energy and conventional energy. This site addresses issues such as how climate change will effects Canadian life and what normal citizens can do in turn to help their overall way of life an energy consumption. This source provides a great look at sustainable development, a concept that has very strong effects on a person’s life and future. Overall as a research source this website provides information regarding Energy and Renewable Energy that normal sources would not provides the reader with. This website covers the issue of Renewable Energy from a number of different angles and helps the user to understand where concepts and ideas for Renewable Energy ultimately come from.

As I thought that the Canadian government would be a great place to start to find information regarding Renewable Energy, I soon realized that I would have to also look to Canada's neighbour to the south. I ending looking for resources regarding the current situations in the United States of America as much pollution, which is causes by conventional means of energy, affects Canada through cross boarder pollution and may other related incidents. The U.S. DOE Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE)web site provides information on energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. I thought that this would be a very good resource, as it would provide the American view to renewable energy and how far they have gone in making use of it. This site would allow me to understand what type of connections that the USA has with Canada regarding this issue, if there are any joint projects and if there is any heat or tension between two neighbouring countries. This site as with the Canadian government site will provide a bias but it will be useful and interesting to see exactly how each country views this topic. As a research source this allow me to get current up to date information with the basics regarding all of the types of renewable energy. This site will provide me with links to other resources that will give me a more in depth look into the exact projects that are currently in place or that are in the planning.

For my first entry I went to the easier place to get the basics on the topic of Renewable Energy in Canada. I found the Government website regarding this issue at Canadian Renewable Energy Network. This site is put into place by the Canadian Federal Government and it helps to break down the different types of Renewable Energy that Canada presently has in place. This site offers a number of resources on it's own server from education information for students, Renewable Energy programs in action in Canada and the different types of Renewable Energy. This is a great starting sources as it provides the goverment actions that are taking place and provides a basis for anyone who wishes to look more in depth ito this subject. As being a government site I believe it to have a bias towards the positive aspects of the projects put in place as well as Renewable Energy in General. For further resources on how actual programs are actually being put in place I would look towards other sites that are strictly dedicated to an individaul project. The links that this resource provides points the user to other pages that deal specifically with each type of Renewable Energy source. Overall this site is probably the best place to go for general all around information and content regarding the main projects in place in Canada.

Let me see...
